This role will be responsible for providing technical recommendations, assistance, advice and information to the sales staff, end-users and distributors. Working with the company’s sales engineers and operations staff, will assess project requirements, prepare designs and drawings, write scope and proposals and manage projects through execution. This will also include infrequent on-site support for project installations.
Must have Civil Engineering degree; Registered professional engineer or EIT; 3 – 5 years industrial experience in product development, or PVF(pipe, valves, fittings) application engineering and design and/or field experience in civil engineering projects ; Must have a firm grasp of civil site, hydraulic, mechanical and structural engineering design principles; Able to determine functional electrical requirements for simple civil & mechanical projects; Proven, demonstrated history of established project management methodologies; Bilingual in English/French considered an asset; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain language; Self motivated, self directed, self managed, innovative, adaptable; Strong computer proficiency (MS Office, AutoCAD); familiarity with Autodesk Inventor would be an asset; Ability to demonstrate task management and timeline control. The ability to develop strong and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization; Previous experience with 5-S and Lean Manufacturing; Experience utilizing a fully integrated ERP system an asset. THE MAIN TASKS ARE:
Provide polyethylene pipe and fittings product application recommendations, and product advice to customers, sales staff, and distributors; Create both preliminary and final drawings of custom assemblies to meet customer specifications and material requirements; Assist with site supervision at project installations; Provide product assistance to the Pipe Production, Fittings Assembly and QA departments; Participate in industry associations, conferences and seminars; Review and approve detailed application drawings to ensure compliance with corporate standards as well as local regulatory and safety requirements; Actively participate in all Health & Safety training and promote a safe work environment; Participate in all LEAN and 5-S activities as it pertains to the position and job location; Other duties/tasks as determined by the manager; Conduct all work according to established Uponor procedures, policies and standards; Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America as required.
